I’m a PhD research fellow at the Department of Computer and Information Science at Norwegian University of Science in a wonderful city of Trondheim, Norway. I’m fortunate to have great people supervising me – Kjetil Nørvåg (supervisor) and Krisztian Balog (co-supervisor).

In the second half of 2016, I was visiting the group of Gao Cong at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Between May and July 2017, I was an intern member of Microsoft Research AI group in Redmond, mentored by Paul N. Bennett and John Krumm. My most recent journey led me to Melbourne, to the group of Flora Salim at RMIT University, where I closely collaborate with Flora herself, Yongli Ren and Mark Sanderson.

My research interest lies mainly in information retrieval with an overlap to visualization and interaction.

With the recent advancement of intelligent digital assistants (e.g., MS Cortana, Google Now) I started focusing on the problem of what information they should provide, when and how. These systems, usually used on mobile devices, are specific in several ways 1) the space for information is very limited, 2) they have access to rich contextual data, and 3) they should act proactively, on their own.

I’m profiling entities such as locations, persons or companies for display on condensed information cards. Using user’s context, I’m predicting which information (s)he needs at the moment or in near future so that it can be proactively retrieved before the user even starts typing a query (zero-query IR).
